Sharmell Sullivan

Sharmell Sullivan-Huffman, better known as Queen Sharmell or simply as Sharmell (born November 2, 1970 in Gary, Indiana), is a Diva and manager for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), under its SmackDown! brand. The manager, known for defending her man, first came to prominence in the wrestling world while a member of World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

Career

Miss Black America (1991)

Sharmell won the Miss Black America pageant in 1991. The pageant that year was overshadowed by accusations of rape by another competitor, Desiree Washington, against Mike Tyson, who served as a pageant judge. After winning the title, Sullivan would begin a career in professional dance. She would tour with several hip-hop artists and R&B bands, including a 3½ year stint with James Brown.

World Championship Wrestling (1999-2001)

Sullivan joined World Championship Wrestling's Nitro Girl dance troupe in 1999 under the name Storm. When the Nitro Girls began becoming more involved in WCW storylines Sullivan found herself as valet for The Artist, redubbing herself as Paisley. She would also valet for Kwee Wee and become involved in his feud with Chris Candido and his girlfriend/manager Tammy Lynn Sytch. This feud would see her wrestling in a number of mixed tag matches and the occasional singles match against Tammy.

Sullivan was also a part of the pop music group Diversity 5 with other Nitro Girls Fyre, Spice, Chae, and Tygress. When she signed with the WWE she was replaced in the group by Chiquita Anderson who was also in the Nitro Girls.

World Wrestling Entertainment (2001, 2005-present)

When WCW was bought by WWE in 2001, Sullivan signed a developmental contract, with the intent of becoming a full-time in-ring performer, and was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling for training. She was called Sister Sharmell and wore a blonde wig there, as valet for The Suicide Blondes. She appeared on Smackdown as the backstage interviewer in 2001 using her real full name for a while. Sullivan's training was cut short by a knee injury, and was released later that year. Sullivan has since retired from in-ring action.

Booker T with Sharmell after winning the U.S. Championship.

Sullivan was re-hired by WWE in 2005, originally debuting as a face, but turning into a heel valet for her real-life husband Booker T when he changed preferences as well. Early on, Sullivan would cheat to secure victories for her then-face husband, without his knowing. Booker T would later turn heel after winning the United States Title (due to Sullivan's interference) from Chris Benoit on an October editon of Smackdown. Booker T apologized to Benoit for Sullivan's interference and offered a rematch, but soon after turned on Benoit, revealing that he was aware of his wife's rulebreaking all along.

On July 23, 2006, at WWE Great American Bash, her husband, King Booker, won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Rey Mysterio with help from Chavo Guerrero.
