Shifu (Stargate)

{{Stargate character |image =

|caption = Lane Gates as Shifu|name=Shifu|race=Human/Harcesis|gender=Male|rank=None|birthplace= Abydos|film=None|tv=Lane Gates|first=Secrets|Shifu is the Harcesis child of Apophis and Sha're, a character in the television series, Stargate SG-1. Shifu's name translates to "teacher" in Chinese. Shifu is a Harcesis child and possesses all the knowledge of the Goa'uld, therefore Apophis created him to be his future host. Shifu was genetically engineered by Apophis to age rapidly at birth. When the child was born of Sha're, Daniel Jackson (his stepfather and husband of Sha're) took the baby and hid the child on Abydos. Eventually the child was taken to Kheb, where Oma Desala taught the child how to ascend to a higher plane of existence.

Shifu appeared to SG-1 in human form when they visited Abydos in "Absolute Power". He returned back to the SGC in order to "teach" Daniel Jackson about how knowledge corrupts. Daniel learns through Shifu that "A sudden leap in weapons technology by a civilization that's not ready for it, can lead to its destruction".

Much like Oma Desala, Shifu is very wise but speaks primarily in tangential riddles or koans. These koans baffle even the intuitive multicultural historian Daniel Jackson.
