Southern Illinois University

Southern Illinois University is a university in southern Illinois with two institutions and multiple campuses.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) has a law school in Carbondale and a School of Medicine in Springfield.

The mascot of SIUC is the Salukis, an ancient breed of hunting dog from Egypt. "Little Egypt" is the traditional nick name of the Southern region of Illinios.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) has a School of Dental Medicine at Alton and a center in East St. Louis that provides clinical and practicum experiences for SIUE students in the arts, education, health, and social services.

The March 2006 injury of a Southern Illinois University cheerleader during a pyramid is causing the NCAA to rethink what it will allow.
