Stay

The word stay has more than one meaning:-
*An item of ship's gear: see nautical term and stays (nautical).
*A guy-wire, used to support a radio mast.
*A component in a steam locomotive firebox
*An alternative word for bone, meaning a piece of stiffening used in clothing: see Bone (corsetry). Also, before the Victorian period, the plural form "stays" was the most commonly-used word for corset in English.
*A court order requiring that a party refrain from a certain action until the court has time to consider a matter.
