Tarashankar Bandopadhyaya

Tarashankar Bandopadhyaya, one of the three great Bandopadhyaya of post-Tagore era of Bengali literature was born in 1898. He wrote 65 novels, 53 story-books, 12 plays, 4 essay-books, 4 autobiographies and 2 travel stories. A notable man of wisdom, he was awarded Rabindra Purashkar, Sahitya Akademi award, Jnanpith Award, and Padma Bhushan. No writer, except Rabindranath Tagore, in Bengali literature, won such honours in our days as him.
