History

Ted was the brother of Kathy Beale, and appeared in Albert Square with his two children, Sarah and Tony. He owned a shop on Bridge Street called 'Hills' Hardware', but had to sell it in order to pay off mounting debts.

Ted had a bad temper which usually got him into trouble. When his daughter Sarah fled the Square, he put Robbie Jackson in hospital, suspecting that he had raped Sarah. In fact, Sarah had come onto Robbie and fled Walford in shame.

When Ted found out that his son Tony was gay, he nearly disowned him, losing many friends in the Square. He was offered a job in Dubai and accepted, leaving Walford. He has since moved to South Africa, and lives near to where Kathy lived before her death.
