Tenth grade

Tenth grade (called Grade ten in some regions) is a year of education in America and many other nations. It is usually ten years after kindergarten. Students are usually 15–16 years old. They will usually graduate 2 years after completing this grade. Grade 10 is usually the second year of high school and a student at this level is called a high school sophomore. However, in some school boards, grade 10 is the first year of high school.

For mathematics curriculum in America, tenth and eleventh graders are usually taught trigonometry and advanced algebra as well as preparing students for pre-calculus and calculus which prepares them for the 12th grade and reviewing old topics.

For social studies curriculum in America, tenth graders are usually finished with studying world history at the end of the year.

While normally followed by eleventh grade, some colleges will accept excelling students out of this grade as part of an early college entrance program.
