The Stendhal Syndrome

The Stendhal Syndrome is a 1996 Italian thriller film written and directed by Dario Argento, and starring his daughter Asia Argento. It is also known as Stendhal's Syndrome. The original Italian title is La Sindrome di Stendhal.

Asia Argento plays a policewoman suffering from a dramatized version of the illness known as Stendhal syndrome while tracking a serial killer and rapist in the Uffizi Gallery.

It was the first Italian film to use computer-generated imagery (CGI). Furthermore, the opening of The Stendhal Syndrome was shot in Florence, at Italy's famed Uffizi Gallery, Argento being the only director ever granted permission to shoot there.

It is distributed in the USA by cult B-movie distribution company Troma Entertainment.
