Transshipment

Transshipment is the shipment of goods to an intermediate destination, and then from there to yet another destination.

One reason for this is so that the means of transport can be changed during the journey (eg. from Ship transport to Road transport). This is known as intermodal freight transport. Transshipment usually takes place in transportation hubs.

Transshipment is legitimate and is fairly common, but it can also be a method used to disguise intent, as is the case with illegal logging, smuggling or grey market goods.
