37Taxis
An Urban (Red) Taxi stand is found outside Exit A. However, it should be noted that those taxis are only allowed to get to the Airport and back to the urban area of Hong Kong. Tourists or commuters who wish to travel to most destinations on Lantau Island should queue up at the Lantau (Blue) Taxi Stand at Exit D. That stand gets very crowded on weekends and public holidays, so funseekers are advised to visit Lantau on a less busy day. Lantau Taxis have lower rates than Urban Taxis, with a HK$12.00 starting fare for the first 2 km and a HK$1.20 increment for each additional 200 meters thereafter. A ride to Ngong Ping would cost about $125, while a ride on Route
23 would cost HK$25 for each person. So, it is best to have 5 people share a blue taxi.
Ngong Ping 360
Ngong Ping 360 of the
MTR is a
cable car system in
Hong Kong serving between
Tung Chung, where it connects the MTR
Tung Chung station , and
Ngong Ping, where the
Po Lin Monastery and
Tian Tan Buddha are located. The
Tung Chung cable car station can be accessed through Exit B.
It was originally scheduled to open on
24 June 2006. However, as some of the technical problems have not been solved, the Skyrail-ITM has announced to postpone the opening day.
