University of Nebraska at Omaha
The
University of Nebraska at Omaha, founded
1908 as the
University of Omaha, is the
Omaha, Nebraska, campus of the
University of Nebraska system, and is the second-largest institution of higher education in Nebraska (after the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln). In
1931, the university became the public
Municipal University of Omaha, and assumed its current name in
1968 following a merger with the University of Nebraska.

Athletics
The school's sports teams are called the Mavericks. They participate in the
NCAA's Division II and in the
North Central Conference, except in
ice hockey. The hockey program competes in Division I as a member of the
Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The men's ice hockey program reached the NCAA post-season tournament in the 2005-2006 season.
