Via Dutra

Via Dutra, or Rodovia Presidente Dutra is the main highway connecting the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and is considered one of the most important highways in Brazil.

402km long; follows, for the most part, the Paraíba do Sul river valley.

Innaugurated in 1951 by President Eurico Gaspar Dutra, after whom it is named.

Its administration was privatized in 1996.
