Wes Butters

Wesley Butters is a former presenter of BBC Radio 1's Official Chart Show.

Wes was born in Salford in May 1979, where he spent his youth. He studied at the University of Salford between 1995 and 1997 where he studied a HND in Design & Media Communications, followed by a BA (Hons) Television and Radio between 1997 and 1999.

Wesley's career began at Wish FM (a local station serving Wigan and St. Helens) where he presented traffic news with AA Roadwatch. In December 1998, Wes moved to Century 105 based in Salford Quays where he presented various evening and weekend shows. He also had a stint at Galaxy 105-106 in Newcastle upon Tyne from 2000 to 2002, where he presented various daytime shows and became Head of Music.

In February 2003 he took over the Top 40 show, which was renamed the Official Chart Show with Wes after it changed its format to include the album charts and stopped playing all the Top 40 singles. In November 2004, it was revealed that he would be standing down from the Chart Show from February 2005, and he was duly replaced by JK and Joel. Wes presented a Saturday afternoon programme on Manchester's Key 103 for a few months in 2005, but successfully moved to Galaxy Manchester to present the breakfast show where he has recently won silver at the Sony Awards for Best Breakfast Show.

He has just been nominated as the UK's best radio presenter for the Commercial Radio Awards.
