Georgia. It was created on December 30, 1851. It is part of the
Dalton, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2000, the population was 83,525. The
county seat is
Dalton, Georgia6.
According to the
U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 753
km² (291
mi²). 751 km² (290 mi²) of it is land and 2 km² (1 mi²) of it (0.23%) is water.
As of the
census² of 2000, there were 83,525 people, 29,385 households, and 22,156 families residing in the county. The
population density was 111/km² (288/mi²). There were 30,722 housing units at an average density of 41/km² (106/mi²). The racial makeup of the county was 80.94%
