WNBA Most Valuable Player Award

WNBA MVP Award

The WNBA Most Valuable Player Award is an annual award is given by the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) to the WNBA player who is the most valuable league-wide to her individual team in regular season competition. The winner of the award is determined by the votes of a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. The distinction is normally awarded during the playoffs of that year.

Trivia

*In 2002, Lisa Leslie became the first player in WNBA history to win both the All-Star Game MVP award and the regular season MVP award in the same season. She also won the Finals MVP that year.
*Sheryl Swoopes won the award for a record third time in 2005 by the closet margin in league history. She had a total of 327 votes, while runner-up Lauren Jackson had 325 votes. She also became the second player in WNBA history to win both the All-Star Game MVP award and the regular season MVP award in the same season.
