Mission statement

As a Catholic, college preparatory school sponsored by the Xaverian Brothers, Xavier endeavors to form a man who is challenged academically, spiritually alive, physically sound, and technologically aware. Our academic, religious, service, athletic and extracurricular programs are constructed to reflect a community centered on Judeo-Christian values. Members of the Xavier community support each student in his growth as a human being. Xavier instills in each student a sense of responsibility for using his God given talents and gifts to the best of his ability. Their stated goals are "To educate the whole person, spirit, mind and body within a Christian framework , to expose students to various cultures in our diverse global community, to form students who are sensitive to the needs of all human beings, to encourage students to respond to the call of the gospel message through community service, to help students develop individual decision making skills for the challenges of the future, to prepare students for the rapidly changing information age of the 21st century."

Xaverian culture

*JUG - A term used for an official teacher-issued, proctored detention. JUG stands for "Justice Under God."
*DWBW - An acronym for "Down With Brother William" created by members of the class of 2001, it is a popular catchphrase among students opposed to present headmaster Brother William Ciganek and all other administrators who help him to create and modify school policies against the will of the students, faculty, and much of the "Xavier Community".
*The Black Hole - The nickname of the XHS student support section at sporting events, particularly football games. The group was created by Brendan Bell (Class of 2005) in imitation of the Oakland Raiders' Raider Nation and the Cameron Crazies of Duke University. Members of the Black Hole are known to arrive in large numbers, wearing black, tailgating before games, waving white towels, and shouting snappy catchphrases like, "Get in the hole!" or, "We love the hole!"
