YA-10 Shrike

The Curtiss YA-10 Shrike was an aircraft A-8 fitted with a Pratt & Whitney R-1690-9 (R-1690D) Hornet radial engine. The YA-10 was in service from 1926 to 1939.

The A-12 Shrike was essentially a production version of the YA-10.

Specifications

*Wing Span: 44 ft. 3 in.
*Length: 32 ft. 6 in.
*Height: 9 ft. 0 in.
*Weight: 6135 lb. gross take off weight
*Armament: 4 forward firing .30-cal. machine guns and 1 movable .30-cal. machine gun for the rear gunner plus provisions for up to 488 lb (4x122 lb.) of bombs mounted on wing racks.
*Engine: 1 Pratt & Whitney R-1690-9 (R-1690D) "Hornet" radial of 630 hp.
*Crew: 2 (Pilot & observer-rear gunner)

Performance

*Maximum speed: 174 mph.
*Cruising speed: 148 mph
*Range: approximately 500 miles
*Service Ceiling: approximately 15,000 ft.
