Question Is it illegal to sell directions to someone, telling them how to clone a cell phone? A cloned phone would be able to make and receive calls just like the one it is a clone of.I am pretty sure using the phone would be illegal but I am not sure if selling the printed directions are legal or not.
Answer Glenn,
Selling the instructions as you described could be legal if you still had to pay for the airtime like a normal telephone. If you are planning on stealing another person's or the provider's airtime then yes that would be illegal to use. However, simply selling the instructions to do so probably is not illegal. Place a huge disclaimer on it telling potential buyers that the plans are for novelty use and that they are subject to state and federal prosecution. When in doubt consult an attorney.
