Question
I am a 14 year old girl and i am currently seeing a 17 year old male. My parents don't have a problem with us seeing eachother but his parents do. After he turns the age of 18, how old do i have to be for us to be in a legal relationship in the state of Washington?

Answer
Hello,

The age of consent in Washington State is 16.  Since your boyfriend is more than two years older than you, it is a crime to have a sexual relationship even before he turn 18.  You can read the law in detail here:

I hope this helps!
