Question
I am a 13 yr old living in virginia but my boyfriend is 18 if someone turns us into the law saying that it is stautory rape can my parents get him out of it. What i mean is can they say we were with them all the time they were always under parental supervision will he still get in trouble

Answer
Hi Amber,

If you are having sex with your boyfriend, he could be charged with a felony and sent to jail as a sexual offender.  The law takes this sort of thing VERY seriously.  Like any crime, it would have to be proven in court.  But lying to investigators or in court could result in a perjury or obstruction of justice charge against whoever told the lie.  If you parents lie, they could go to jail too.  I do NOT recommend that.

I know it may be hard to wait, but that is really what the law requires.  Virginia makes it illegal to have sex with anyone before age 18.

If you are interested you can read the law here:

I hope this helps!
