Question If a guy comes inside of you during intercourse what is the chance that you are pregnant?
Answer Dear Heather,
Thanks for writing!
If a guy comes inside of you during intercourse there is ALWAYS the possibility that you are pregnant. However, there are also some factors that may prevent you from being pregnant (besides birth control).
You can only be pregnant if one of his sperm fertilizes one of your eggs. Now we all know that guys can produce sperm anytime they're in the mood. Women, however, can only produce an egg once a month. Your ovaries will release an egg about two weeks after you previous period. Or, two weeks before your next period. If you are just getting over your period, or your period has ended no longer than about a week and a half ago, there's a good chance that your ovaries have not yet released another egg, and therefor there was nothing there for his sperm to fertilize.
Another way you could not be pregnant is due to what I call the "Egg detour." You see, only one of your two ovaries releases an egg each month. The ovaries take turns with eachother--if your right ovary releases an egg one month, your left one will release an egg the next month. If you are ovulating (an egg has been released from one of your ovaries), and he comes inside you, it is possible that the sperm will swim up the wrong fallopian tube to find your egg. And they can't just turn around and go back in the other direction...they would all die off before they made it.
My suggestion to you is that if this guy ejaculated inside of you during intercourse, and it's been within the past two days, go immediatly to a family planning clinic and take a morning after pill. These pills will kill off the sperm withtin 72 hours of intercourse before they even make it to the fallopian tubes. There are family planning clinics everywhere, and they are free and confidential.
And you also may want to consider birth control if you are becoming sexually active. And never, ever again have sex without a condom, even if you are on birth control. There are so many STD's out there today, and birth control won't protect you against that. But it will keep you from getting pregnant. Both of these things are also available at a family planning clinic. Look in your phonebook for the one nearest you.
Well, I hope I have been of some help to you. Please let me know how it goes. And if you ever need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to ask.
