About Dylan Pemberton
Expertise
My area of interest is the holocaust with particular reference to the Auschwitz Birkenau extermination camp. I can answer most questions regarding the lead up to and the ultimate deployment of 'The Final Solution' including the Wannsee Conference, ghetto liquidations, the Nuremberg Trials, post-war 'Nazi Hunting' by the likes of Simon Weisenthal etc. My knowledge / experience is perhaps best suited to someone who - for example - had a homework / coursework assignment in this area as opposed to a professional interest in which case there are, naturally, recognised experts and historians available.

Experience
Lifelong interest in ensuring the events of the holocaust are never forgotten, visits to Auschwitz Birkenau and extensive literature on the subject.

Education/Credentials
10 GCSE's, several A-Levels, BTEC National Diploma Graphic Design, 15 years senior level business experience.

Question
Hi Dylan
I was writing to see if you had any knowledge about the women prisoners of war by the Japenese army, especially surrounding singapore. I was wondering if you could tell me any infomation you had or point me in the direction of some good websites as i have really struggled finding anything. I am really keen to know more about this subjuct and am really determined to find out more.
Thank you,
Emma

Answer
I'm sorry but this is not my area of expertise I'm afraid although I would say have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_war_crimes as a starting point.  Women were often used by the Japanese as 'comfort' for their soldiers which is clearly a sinister euphamism.  There is an excellent book by Lawrence Rees called Their Darkest Hour which does cover this subject fairly well including interviews with former Japanese soliders.
