Although I am still in school , I am an avid reader, and have taken an interest in my country's history (Lebanon), especially after the catastrophes of 2005 and 2006.

Question
Why is the 20th.century, called the american century?

Answer
Good day, Martin

I believe that the twentieth century is called the American Century because the United States of America then became a superpower.

As you may recall, the US was relatively weak before WWII. When the European powers were defeated, and the Japanese threat was annihalated, there only remained the US and Russia as the two world supers. After the fall of the USSR in 1991, nobody was left to compete with the US.

Now, the US has the most influence in the world.

Thank you for this question, and do not hesitate to write again.
