AboutTom Expertise While it is a huge topic, I am well-versed in World War II generally. There is a huge wealth of information available on the internet, HOWEVER, one has to know the trash from the gems. Many sites which are not obviously credible (govt, university, and museum sites, for ex.), provide erroneous information (intentionally or otherwise).

Question I am actually a MBA student. The assignment I need to answer requires me to briefly write about the history in Europe and US from 1900-1948. I need to know the major events. This is basically to understand the mind of an Economist who lived during that period.
Appreciate if you could help.
Thanks
Answer I appreciate your honesty.
OK, so here's first off the cuff remark - as I don't have the questions here - it won't be easy (meaning you may have to peruse a bit to get the hit you seek), but wikipedia is an awesome source of info. However, it behooves you to double check info before submitting any graded work, as wiki is a collaborative effort, and occasionally gets things wrong (or someone with a political bent could 'lean' the facts ya know) - but that's a pretty infrequent event.
Now one of the questions was about who used US power to influence events in mideast our way and against communism. I don't know, but could find out. My guess is FDR or Truman is the answer you seek, so start there. FDR got us involved in mideast as part of WW2 (US and USSR jointly occupied Iran - did you know that?) and used it to send Lend Lease aid to USSR. US had ties to the Saud ruling family even then, and I think FDR even met with the king at one point.
However, FDR wasn't an anti-communism in any real way, so I don't think he did things explicitly to counter communism, which is why Truman comes to mind. He gave assistance to Greece and Turkey c.1948 to resist soviet pressure and domination, and (at least in Greece) a vicious communist insurgency. He got Turkey into NATO (only muslim nation in NATO) - or at least started that ball rolling. He supported Israel and a quick look at the history of the nations in mideast should show when US Military aid and advisors came into being - I'm betting Truman's era (1945-1952). Also, a quick lookup on SEATO should give you info on a similar alliance of anti-communist nations (CENTO or something like that) that included like Pakistan, Iran, and such Mideast. That is an example of US involvement against communism.
Send me the questions via email and I'll see what I can do, though I don't have answers off top of head:
