Experience
I have had classes dealing with US History, European History, the History of Mexico, History and Politics of Asia, and the War in Vietnam.

20th Century History - Jacquline Kennedy Onassis

Expert: John Brengman - 8/31/2003

Question
Hello and thanks for volunteering! I am hoping you can settle something for me! My colleague swears that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis commited suicide by Overdosing. My husband and his whole family swears she dies of natural causes or cancer, he could not be sure. Would you mind telling me the official documented cause of death of her? I don't need this for any major thing, just to pacify my curiousity!! Thanks!!

Melinda

Your husband and his family appear to be right.

According to a site involved with the Arlington Cemetary, there is the following:

"The wife of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, she married Greek financier Onassis several years after JFK's death in 1963. She became a widow the a second time when Onassis died and was again single when she died of cancer in 1994. Due to this status, she was laid to rest next to JFK and their two infant children in Arlington National Cemetery."

Thanks much,

John B.
