Subject: Private in WW2

Question
Hello! I'm from Italy and I'm writing a book set in the USA in the years of the WW2. I'd like to know some information about the recruitment of privates after the attack of Pearl Harbour: when it started, what the age limits were, if it was  an obligatory or a voluntary service... Thank you!

Answer
Privates were recruited from the ages of 17 - 43, and the process began 4 months after pearl harbour on the 17th of April. It was obligatory, however there were 'reserved occupations' such as farmers or factory workers. These people were not recruitment as they were deemed essential to the war effort.

Good luck with the book, if you have any further questions please ask.
