About Tom
Expertise
While it is a huge topic, I am well-versed in World War II generally. There is a huge wealth of information available on the internet, HOWEVER, one has to know the trash from the gems. Many sites which are not obviously credible (govt, university, and museum sites, for ex.), provide erroneous information (intentionally or otherwise).

Experience
BA in history, and been reading and studying WW2 as my 'hobby' for 30 years. Regular contributor to several online forums in military history, WW2, and related areas and topics.

Organizations
None relevant to this topic.

Education/Credentials
BA, History (Secondary Education), with minor in Geography
US Army Engineer Officer (Officer Basic and Advanced Courses)

Question
Hi I have a question on World War 1 - Ghosts have warm hands by Will R. Bird. A memoir of the great war 1916- 1919. the 42nd battalion, the black watch of canada.
Can you tell me anything about the views and memories of 1st world war war and the strongest memories during that time period and what effect did it have.

Thanks!

Answer
I have to tell you, I am not well-read on WW1, as I am a WW2 afficionado.

However, I have found the group of folks on the history channel's discussion boards to be pretty well versed - may I suggest you try posting your question there, under Wars | World War 1?

http://boards.historychannel.com
or historychannel.com, and look for the discussion forums.

I can also recommend this site:
http://www.greatwar.nl/
Which even includes an internal literature link.

And this one:
http://www.inforworks.com/greatwar.htm

and since you mentioned the Canadian Black Watch, you should be familiar with the Canadian War Museum:
http://www.warmuseum.ca/cwm/cwme.asp

Sorry I couldn't be more help personally.

tom
