2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Civil Rights restoration re; gun possesion

Question
I am a convicted felon who has finished my sentence and probation.  I am a resident of Colorado, where my civil rights are restored upon the completion of my sentence.  This was a federal conviction for mail fraud and commodity fraud, for which i served 85% of a 60 month sentence.

I live in the mountains with my wife and 4 dogs.  I would like to purchase and posses a shotgun for protection vs. the local wildlife.  We have large mountain lions and bears in the immediate area.

May i purchase and/or keep a shotgun in my home?

Answer
Your right to vote is restored but your firearm rights are not.  You will not be able to purchase a firearm until you get full restoration of rights from ATF or a Presidential Pardon.  In some cases the state may be able to give you restoration  of rights for a federal conviction but it may restrict you from firearm purchases.  Have your wife buy the weapon if you just want to keep it in the house for protection.

Good Luck...
