Question
in march of 2005 i was arrested.  a year later i was convicted of possession of steroids and intent to posess steroids.  i only had to do aprox 6 months of probation.  i have no been off for a year and was wondering if i could ever own a firearm for hunting..  i live in NJ.

Answer
You can own a firearm again with restoration of your rights or Executive Clemency.  In NJ your chances of owning a firearm are very slim even with restoration of your rights but in other states such as Virginia and PA. with restoration of rights or Executive Clemency you can apply and receive a firearm permit.  Since you are a convicted felon a firearm permit is the only way you can ever get caught carrying a firearm.

Good Luck...
