Question
QUESTION: A friend of mine was recently pulled over by the police he was going through some stressful problems and was riding with his friends in which he was smoking marijuana and the police found a half of joint in his cigarette box.  He has a gun license and hasn't been in any other trouble with the law.  He was given a notice to appear for court but wasn't physically arrested that night.  I believe it is a misdemeanor but is this a reason to have your gun license revoked in the state of Florida.  Thanking you in advance.

ANSWER: I don't do Private Consultations.

QUESTION: Do you know where I could search to find the reason a gun license could be revoked.  Sorry I don't much about this.  Just asking.

Answer
Suggest that you either consult an attorney conversant with Florida's firearms statutes, or research your specific question at http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=Ch079.

Based on your earlier "private" inquiry, when someone with a firearms license has adversarial contact with law enforcement, it is incumbent with the licensee to notify his licensing authority of the incident regardless of whether he or she was arrested or just given an "appearance ticket."

In other words, get ahead of any potential problem, and don't sit back and wait to see if the computers are going to catch up with you!

G'luck.

I can answer questions about Handguns, Rifles, Ammunition, the Firearms Industry, the "gunzine game," practical accessories for self-defense (CCW) handguns; rumor control on firearms myths, errata on the "gunshop grapevine."

I am NOT an Attorney, and nothing I provide here should be relied upon as legal advice. Therefore, please do NOT make inquiries about Criminal Justice issues... this is the Second Amendment topic.

Nor do I do "Private Consultations." Want to made it "private," retain an attorney.
