Question
I was convicted in 1997 of misdemeaner dui and again in Jan. of 2000 for felony dui (2 in five years). I no longer drink and I had the felony conviction expunged several years ago. Will the convictions prevent me from obtaining a concealed carry permit in Indiana? My current profession takes me into some less than desirable areas at times and I would like to obtain a permit.  Thank you in advance for you tiem and aassistance.

Answer
If your felony is expunged you can get a CCW.  Do you have proof that it's expunged? It may still be in your records.  If I was you I would apply for a Virginia Non-resident CCW it covers about 20 states and is mailed within 3 weeks.  I would also try for the Utah CCW Permit it covers about 30 states and finally Florida Permit it covers 26 states.  All these states have non-resident permits and recognize expungement of felonies as long as you can prove it.  Indiana is not known to issue permits as easy as these 3 states when any convictions are involved.
