Question
I was charged with a DUI May of 2006.  Will this stop me from purchasing a pistol and being able to get a concealed weapons permit in Virginia?

Answer
Yes, If your DUI is a felony conviction you are now banned from firearms.  You must apply for Virginia Executive Clemency. Online you can get an application, you will be corresponding with Supervisor Womack.  It will take about six months to get an answer.  After you receive the certificate you must go to your county court and request firearm restoration.

GOOD LUCK
