Question
Non-violent convicted felon here. I would like to pursue bow hunting, is this legal? For me to hunt and or own these kinds of weapons? Recurve bow/compound bow.
And what about firearms for hunting and home protection?
We currently reside in colorful Colorado but will ultimately live the lone star state of Texas.
All convicted felons are banned from all weapons and firearms until they have had their rights restored in full, a pardon, expungement or had their conviction set aside. If you have a federal conviction you need a Presidential Pardon. Restoration of firearm rights must be done in the state you was convicted. It does not matter if it's a violent felony or not. A violent felon just makes it harder to get restoration of rights.

| Comment | Thank you for the quick response. Your "GOOD LUCK" cant be interpreted as a dig or sincerety, so I gave you an 8 on politeness. I'm not sure about your knowledgeability so I put you a bit above mid range. There are many people like me thankful to be in a country as forgiving as ours. However there is a great contradiction in rehabilitation/reintegration in this country that should be addressed for the good of all. The media will spout cases of dictatorship or civil rights violations in other countries for crimes committed- say having a hand cut off for theft...and yet I wonder if this is not more humane in some instances than the continued and ongoing punishment I know many to be subject to in this country. Thank you again for taking the time to address my question. | ||
