Question
I currently poses a certificate of relief from disabilities, excluding the right to run for public office.
Convicted 18 years ago for possession and intent to distribute 3 grams of cocaine in NY. Disposition was 5 years probation and released early after 4 years.
Am I able to poses a shotgun to hunt as well as get a hunting license?

Answer
I cannot give you legal advice, but you can find the answer to your question about possessing a shotgun here:

http://dpca.state.ny.us/pdfs/certificatesofrelieffromforfeituresanddisabilitiesq...

See #15, which should give you enough information to answer your question.

You can also contact the NYS Division of Probation and Correctional Alternatives for more information:

http://dpca.state.ny.us/contact.htm

Also, your prior conviction should not interfere with your obtaining a hunting license.

Good luck to you.
