Question
QUESTION:
"I have two felony property crime convictions in California.(Both could have been prosecuted as misdemeanors) I have not even had a traffic ticket since 1997. If I have my record expunged in California will I be able to own a gun in New Jersey ??"

ANSWER: As long as your expungement erases the conviction from your FBI fingerprints you will be cleared.  Remember NJ has vry strict gun laws, I know people in NJ with no felony convictions that are turned down for CCW permits.  They are a may issue state not a shall issue state.

Good Luck

QUESTION: If I have a Calif. lawyer expunge my convictions will that automatically remove the convictions from FBI or are their other steps involved. I just want to own a shotgun and maybe a pistol...not a CCW permit.

Answer
That answer you will have to get from your Lawyer.  If it doesnt come off your FBI fingerprnt you will have to get a CCW or you will fail the NICS check everytime you go to puchase a firearm.  You will be able to get a CCW with any type of expungement, full restoration of rights meaning no restrictions or a pardon.  A pardon being the best of the three but equal to expngement if removed from your records completely.
