Question
I tryed to purchase a firearm from a Scheels sporting goods store sat. 11/01/08, NICS check was placed on delay. No explanation has been given for delay to today 11/05/08 I am not aware of any felony convictions on my record, and have no criminal or violent offenses on my record but do have a couple of DUI charges from 18-23 years ago.Could the DUI arrests prevent the purchase of this gun,and how long will I be waiting to find out.Thank you

Answer
Bob,

Thanks for asking. DUI convictions may affect your ability to pass NICS.
If they were that long ago, I would think not.

However I would recommend going back to Scheels and see if they have an explanation for the NICS delay.

If this does not work I would contact legal help in the state where the DUI's took place to determine the cause.

Good luck !
