Question
QUESTION: Hello, I'm a resident from New York that travels very often along the southeast coast, I was wondering if I can get a Virginia non resident ccw permit without having a ccw permit from my home state of New York. Please Inform

Joe

ANSWER: Yes Joe you can get a Virginia Non-resident permit.  You must have proof of firearms training such as Military DD-214, Firearm training certifcate etc.  You must also be free of any felony convictions, not have any pending cases, no domestic violence convictions or restraining orders.  You can download an application online at Virginia State Police.com.  You will need to get your fingerprints taken on the FBI fingerprint card.  You can call the state police they are very informative and pleasant.  I have a Virginia non-resident CCW and I'm from NY also.  I have Florida as well.

GOOD LUCK

QUESTION: Thanks, next thing is I also wanted to get the Florida non resident  but it
states that you do need a valid permit from your home state, did I read that
correct. Also if and when I do get the Virginia non resident permit in what
state can I purchase my first handgun ? Thanks in advance. Joe

Answer
Florida does not require you to have a permit from your home state NH and PA require that.  Go to Florida Dept of Agriculture website and you can request a full application from their website.

You can only purchase firearms from the state you live in because you need two peices of gov't ID with your home address in that state.

GOOD LUCK
