2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/restoration of gun rights

Question
My wife would like to purchase a concealable hand gun and get her CHL because of where she works. I would like to clear my record so she can do so and possibly get one myself. I'm now 39 years old but back in late 80's I was convicted of GTA and then later in the early 90's convicted of a drug charge. I had also recently discovered that I have an active warrant for FTA for a traffic citation from 95 that I didn't know about. This is all in California, but I have moved to New Jersey in 95 due to my mother being in a very bad accident with an 18 wheeler so I could take care of her, meet my wife and got married in 96. From there my wife and 6 children moved to Texas in 2001, and had been living there ever since. I had not been in any kind of trouble since I got away from the bad elements ( people ) I used to be around nor do I plan on it. What are my options? Will I be able to get restoration rights and rights to own a hand gun? PLEASE HELP !!!!!

Answer
Your wife can get a firearm permit but that weapon must remain at work not to be bought into the home where you live.  You can apply for restoration of rights in California and if approved your wife will then be able to bring the firearms home.  Long guns may be different in the state of TX. You must get restoration of firearm rights from the state where you was convicted.  Meaning you can't have any rerictions on your certificate.
