Question
i am currently on parole for a non-violent felony which i did the shock program in ny.i was issued a certificate of relief from disabilities but it has firearms restrictions on it.what do i have to do to get my hunting rights back?i heard all i have to do is have the sentencing judge sign it but i am unsure. thank you for your time

Answer
No that is not all you have to do is get the Sentencing Judge to sign it because no Judge will just give a felon firearm rights.  You have to get released from Parole first then apply for a Certificate of good conduct with no restricitions to the NYS Dept. of Parole. Being that you are on State Parole you have to deal with the state for restoration of rights.  Go to NYS Parole website and download
an aplication.  You must be released from Parole first.
