Question
In 2001 I was convicted in district court of a class 4 felony for attempt. bribery, since then I haven't had so much as a parking ticket, I'm now a paramedic, and have had steady employment since, am married and have a son recently out of the marine corps and would like to go hunting with him.

Answer
You have to apply and receive full restoration of rights from the courts where you was convicted.  Every state has it own way of dealing with restoration of rights.  As of now you can't own, possess, transport or purchase any firearms.  After you receive your restoration of rights you will then have to apply and receive a firearm permit.  Most states will grant a permit with restoration of rights like VA, FL, TN, TX, PA
