Question
I pled guilty to theft by deception in the third degree in New Jersey in 1994. I was given 5 yrs probation which was completed in 1999. I now live in Florida. Would I be able to purchase a handgun here or would I have to restore my rights in NJ first?
You need to search under Florida Executive Clemency, You will be able to download and print a copy of an application for firearm restoration of rights. The sooner the better because the waiting period is very long in Florida. You don't need to get your rights restored in NJ if you now live in Florida.
