2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Colorado Restoration of Gun Rights

Question
I pled guilty to a felony assault (class 6) in colorado over 10 years ago. I have been doing some research and it looks like Colorado restores your right to own a gun after 10 years from being released. Is this true? Also what are my next steps if any to being able to hunt with a firearm again?

Thank you for your time.

Answer
You have to apply for restoration of rights to see if you can get approved.  Restoration of firearms rights allow you to apply and receive a firearm permit from your State or any other state.  You still may fail the NICS check with restoration of rights unless you have a firearm permit.  To find out about your State laws on restoration of rights you must seek a lawyer or check your states parole/ probation Dept.

Good Luck
