Question
Hi,
I moved to NJ a few years ago and brought 3 guns with me from Pennsylvania and I have 2 questions.  First, do I need to apply for a firearms ID card to posses a gun in NJ?  Second question is I was convicted of posession of less than an ounce of marijuana in 1995 whie in college in PA.  Would I be denied a card based on this conviction?

Answer
The card won't do anything for you in NJ if you are caught carrying concealed or outside your home without a carry concealed weapons permit. The card is to purchase a weapon in the state of NJ not to carry it.

Only Felonies and Domestic Violence Misdemeanors will ban you from owning, possessing or transporting a firearm.  If you have either you must get restoration of rights from the state you were convicted in or presently live in.

Good Luck
