2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/civil rights restoration
Expert: n/a - 6/2/2008
QuestionDon,
I use to serve in the U.S. Navy. I really would like to get back into the military after I was convicted of a violent crime. I now have a class 4 felony charge. I have served all of my probation and completed the court mandated counseling. I need to restore my right to bear arms. How can I go about doing this. I've been through a bunch of lawyers that only want thousands of dollars and for me to do all of their work. How can I fix my life and get back on track to serve my country?
Sincerely,
Samuel
AnswerSamuel,
You never mentioned which State you was convicted, every State has different laws for violent and non violent felony convictions. You will have to get restoration of rights from the state where you was convicted. If you are in NY, Virginia or Florida you may get restoration of rights in those states even if you were convicted else where. Do an online search using your State name and typing in restoration of rights. You should get some information and hopefully an application to download and apply for restoration of rights.
Good Luck
