QuestionIm in california and I was convicted of a felony 245a(1) 2005, I was granted to get my probation terminated, it reduced to misdemenor, and then expunged. The law states I still cant own a gun for 10 years, but im graudating college next year and want to persue a career in the military or be a probation/parole officer. I cant wait til 2015 to start my career. What can i do?
AnswerWhat law is that? The federal firearm law states that only a felony or a misdemeanor of domestic violence will prohibit you from owning, possessing or transporting a firearm. I have no knowledge of that law stating you can't own a firearm for 10 years.
There is nothing stopping you from joining the Military just go and see a recruiter. The Military has nothing to do with California local laws. You can receive a firearm permit from any other state if you applied. Try and apply for a Florida Non Resident firearm permit. Go to www.floridadepartmentofagriculture.com look for firearm license and request an application be mailed to you.
Good Luck
