2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Felon owning a firearm

Question
I would like to know if I can own a firearm. I was convicted of a felony in NJ about 27 years ago. I have not been in any trouble since. I currently live in Florida and would to be able to legally own a gun. Is this possible?
Thank You
Jim

Answer
James,
Thanks for asking about this matter. As long as the felony is still on your record then as per Federal Law you cannot own a firearm.

You may want to check legal help to see if you can obtain a pardon for
this. Some states offer this and some do not. It would be good if you can get this cleared up.

I wish you the best and if I can be of any further help, let me know.
