I live in the state of indiana. I am considering applying for a gun permit. I am aware that the term, at least in indiana, "adjudicated delinquent" for any offense in a juvenile court(not charged as an adult) is NOT considered "convicted of a felony" so you can answer no for NICS background checks. The gun permit asks the question "have you ever been convicted of any criminal violation incuding DUI?" I am wondering if adjudication of delinquency is also included here? Since juvenile proceedings are considered civil and not criminal in my state, can I answer no? or just check with the State Police''s office to be sure? Also, do you know if juvenile records are automatically sealed in indiana? I have read that they are. Thanks.

You have not stated whether you have ever been "adjudicated a delinquent" for an offense, and whether that offense could have been punishable by a year or more in jail.

You really DO need to consult an Indiana-based attorney.
