2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Restoration of Rights in Wisconsin
Expert: n/a - 9/2/2008
QuestionI pled guilty to a misdemeaner disorderly conduct charge connected to domestic violence in 1997 in Wisconsin. I did this unaware of the subsequent loss of my valued hunting privileges.
I would appreciate any specific information you can give me as it pertains to applying for my Restoration of Rights as it applies to the State of Wisconsin. I am looking for the agency to whom I would request the form, a telephone number, website, or whatever leads you can give me.
Also, do I need/want a lawyer involved in this procedure?
I greatly appreciate your help in this matter.
Thank you,
Jerry
AnswerSeems to me you already know you have to get restoration of rights. You may have to return to the courts where you was convicted. Every state has it's own way of dealing with restoration of rights. Try googling WI restoration of rights/ or executive Clemency something may pop up if not try the Parole/ Probation Dept. they also do restoration of rights in some states.
Usually a Lawyer is not needed. If you are denied then think about a Lawyer on the appeal. Unless of course you can afford a Lawyer.
Good Luck
