Question
My husband is a convicted felon,he was on parole and the p.o. told him that primative weapons like bows or muzzle loaders were ok for him to have in his possion. He has since been released from  parole and my brother who is on the sheriff's dept. in our town told me that he can't even have those anymore. Can you give me a little insite to this?He wants to hunt but doesn't want to get in trouble either.                         Thank You.

Answer
Hi Melissa,

Federal law states that convicted felons cannot own firearms. A muzzle loader is a firearm. I have never heard that felons cannot own bows, but that may well be the case in your state.

However, to be sure, you will need to check your local laws to be sure. I am not a lawyer and cannot give any legal advice.
