2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/AR-15 Purchase/Delayed Background Check

Question
I was arrested and charged with "deadly conduct" involving a handgun in Denton County, Texas on 3/15/03.  On 9/12/03 the presiding judge transfer-reduced the charge to a class C misdemeanor and the case was disposed.  I recently purchased an AR-15 and went to pick it up from the dealer to whom I had it shipped on 1/21/09.  The dealer called in my info and told me on the spot that the background check would be more extensive, and that he wouldn't know whether or not he could turn the gun over to me until 1/27/09 (six days from today).  Will I be able to own this rifle?

Thanks,

Joe

Answer
Joe,

Thanks for asking. If for some reason, they do not allow you to have it, then I would get legal help to see what the problem is. Even though the charges were changed to a misdemeanor, the original charge was pretty serious. This could be the reason for the hold - up.
